Forum Guidelines

Dedicated To Answering Your Toughest Questions

Last Modified On: Jan 19, 2018

Welcome to the Forum Guidelines section of Bodybuilding Nation! Here we give you the overall guidelines for posting and communicating in our forums. While each category may have different specifications and rules, each category follows these overall guidelines. Before posting to a certain category please check the sidebar for a detailed list of rules.

Our forum is dedicated to helping people get answers or suggestions to problems they may have. All questions being asked should be unique, meaning you should search our forum first to make sure the answer your seeking is not already on our site. Duplicate questions will be closed and linked to the original question.

Forum Behavior

We expect all users on our site to be kind and courteous to other users. Not everyone may have the knowledge you have so any question should be answered in a kind manner. Rudeness, belittling, as well as foul language will not be tolerated. Nor will harassment or general "trolling". We expect that all users should treat each other the way they would want to be treated if they are just starting out in the fitness world.

What Questions Can I Ask?

  • Improving your performance or technique
  • Injury prevention
  • Finding a good training program
  • Nutrition as it relates to exercise
  • Achieving physique
  • Questions concerning competition preparation
  • Physique assessments

What Questions Are Discouraged?

  • Off topic questions to the category being posted in
  • Medical advice questions
  • Purchase recommendations
  • Questions about illegal substances
  • Open ended questions, rants, and topics that cannot be answered simply

Gaining Votes

Our forum uses a voting system to assess how well questions and answers are ranked. Positive and negative votes attribute to your overall vote score and the higher your score the more authority you gain throughout the site. Votes are gathered in either one of two ways.

  1. Asking a good question that gains attention and gathers upvotes.
  2. Answering questions well and gaining upvotes for good answers.

On the other side of the coin, bad answers and questions that violate our terms can gain you downvotes. Downvotes negatively affect your overall vote score and it is recommended that you avoid them at all costs. If a user reaches an overall vote score of -20 votes they will automatically be banned from asking or answering questions.

Upvoting and Downvoting

Upvoting and downvoting is only allowed to users that have gained an overall positive vote count of +10. Aggressive downvoters or those who use their voting powers in a negative way can have their access to the forum revoked.

Accepting An Answer

While many people may answer your questions you are in charge of choosing one as the "accepted answer" for your question. By doing this you are acknowledging that the answer is the best and most well researched answer to your question. When you accept an answer the user that posted the answer automatically gets +10 points added to their overall vote score.

Moderation

Our moderators are both employees and individuals who frequent the forum and are in good standing with us. Very few people are extended the offer to become a moderator and unlike article writing it is solely at our discretion who becomes a moderator and who doesn't. Moderators have the power to close a topic, ban users, and are in charge of making sure the overall moral and function of the forum is a fun and positive place for users.

Flagging Content

If you have found a question or comment that violates our guidelines you can flag it by clicking on the flag icon in the top right of each comment or question. Our moderation team will then be alerted and handle it appropriately. For immediate assistance you can get in contact with us.

Disputing A Moderation

In the event your question or answer was closed due to a moderation issue you may dispute it by contacting us at contact@bodybuildingnation.com.
